I spent a portion of the afternoon at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, in Clark County, Nevada.  I have not been doing as much hiking lately so I decided to tackle the Black Mountain trail.

It wasn’t too terribly difficult, but it was quite windy at the top.

The Conservation area abuts the sprawling subdivisions of Henderson, Nevada with the multitude of casinos and the Las Vegas skyline is in the background.

I am standing in roughly the same spot from where I took the previous picture, just looking to the back of the mountain.  What a contrast!

It is Christmas but really didn’t expect to find a decorated “tree” on my hike……….now if I had encountered Santa on my hike…..
