Stone Mountain, a National Natural Landmark is one of the most unique natural features I’ve ever laid eyes on.  The mountain is  a 600-foot granite dome. The dome was formed by molten lava beneath the earth’s surface.  The layers around the dome eroded over time leaving this exposed feature.

This was one of my favorite stops so far this year.  Maybe because it isn’t all that well advertised.  While at the top, I was the only person there.
