Barnhill Mound

Continuing along US-1 (Federal Highway) in Boca Raton, Florida is a remnant of Florida history.  Just inside of the gated entrance of the Boca Marina and Yacht Club is an American Indian Mound.

At one time this site was preserved as a tourist attraction but it was sold to developers and is now restricted to the general public.  I was able to snap this picture from just inside the gated area as I was making a u-turn after being told by the security guard that I couldn’t view the site.

Sports Immortals Museum

Driving along US-1 (Federal Highway) in Boca Raton, Florida in front of what appears to be a normal glass office building is a statue of Babe Ruth.  The building actually houses the Sports Immortals Museum, a quirky collection of sports memorabilia.

You can see this is no typical sports museum. I have to imagine the museum stays open due to the sale of the memorabilia itself.  I was the only visitor during the hour or so I was there.  I was a bit dissapointed as only a small percentage of the items owned by the museum are actually on display.  Most of the items are in crates on the upper floor of the building.
