Located in Miners Memorial Park in Morgan County, Ohio is a large bucket which was attached to the “Big Muskie” earth moving machine.  Big Muskie was in service between 1969 and 1991.

As demand for coal decreased, Big Muskie was taken out of service and eventually dismantled, leaving only this  bucket.

Here is the view from the park today.  Such a contrast to what it must have looked like when the coal extraction was taking place.

My next stop was the site of the Big Bottom Massacre along the Muskigum River just east of Stockport, Ohio.
